Construction on Whirlwind began around January/February 2004, a few months after I received the game. It was originally
going to be hosted at a freeserver, but I bought my domain in February 2004 and uploaded Whirlwind soon after.
The name? A bit obvious, really. I'm not exactly creative. Anyway:
whirl·wind (hwûrlwnd, wûrl-) n.There's the obvious connection to wind there. And since Talim stars in a fighting game, "destructive force" relates perfectly. And "a tumultous, confused rush" sort of fits my personal fighting style! I never said I was any good at the game.
1. A rapidly rotating, generally vertical column of air, such as a tornado, dust devil, or waterspout.
2. A tumultuous, confused rush.
3. A destructive force or thing.
Whirlwind is going to be "static" from now on, aside from updates on new SC games.
I'd like to leave it as a small and concise tribute :).
Layout
This would be version seven of Whirlwind. It again proves that I abuse gradients way too much! Anyway, it features
a screencap of Talim from the Soul Calibur II opening movie. The cloud
texture came from a now-dead textures site (sadface) and the scratchy-looking textures came from
Feel. Lyrics are, as usual, from
The Shins' "Girl on the Wing."
Past layouts can be found at Castaway.
